I plan on doing a build threat, hopefully in the next 2-3 months, for a Cade 1200 s2. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for lights for the system. I only want to have like 2 lights, 3 max. From my old Red Sea, which ended the way a lot of Red Sea tanks do, with me having to buy new flooring, I have 2 XR15 G6 with 2 30-inch blade coral grows. I don't believe this will be sufficient for the 1200 S2, as I used those on my 300 XL. I also don't want to have to run 4 lights, as that is just a waste of plug space and could be done more elegantly, and I might just sell them.

The goal for the tank is primarily sps with a mixed reef towards the lowest parts of the rock work.

The dimensions of the Cade 1200 is:

47.24 inches long
27.56 inches wide
23.62 inches tall

Any help is appreciated.

I reccomend Kessil or RedSea REEFLED 90s. 2x.
  • Kessil A$360$X:
    • Two units should provide adequate coverage.
    • Each unit covers approximately
      2020
      -
      2424
      inches.
  • Radion XR$15$ Pro:
    • Three units are suitable, especially for a mixed reef setup.
  • AI Blade Glow:
    • Combined with Radion XR$15$ Pro, it can provide effective lighting.
  • Aquatic Life T$5$/LED combo:
    • A
      4848
-inch T$5$ fixture combined with LEDs can be a good option.
  • Straton (1st gen):
    • One unit is sufficient for a cube tank of similar size.
  • CADE $40$W Surface Mount Batten:
    • Suitable for general task lighting, but may not be sufficient for reef tanks.

I'm upgrading to a 1200 this year and I currently have 2 xr15's on a 900, my plan is to either add a 39" blade or lose the xr15's and go with 2 or 3 blades.
I'm leaning more towards adding the blades as they're pretty powerful lights and look good with the slimline look.
