CADlights Artisan 70g

Getting ready to make the big purchase. Just want all my ducks in a row. I dont know that I will be happy with the return pump that comes with the tank. The plumming is in metric system. I want to get a larger return pump without having to do much plumming modifcations. Anyone with one of these tanks have any suggestions?

I put a DC3000 on mine. Gives me very good turnover. If I had it to do again, I would go with a DCT6000, a little more flow to play with. I used the pump that came with the tank as my manifold feeder pump. You'll love the tank, I just got mine up and running. Good Luck.

Was the pump difficult to attach to the tubing Cadlight sent or did you have to modify plumbing

i have a Cadlights shallow.. i ended up tossing the plumbing. I found a US standard size bulkhead for the overlow and an adapter for the return and emergency overflow. Everything is hard plumbed in my tank. I used the return and emergency overflow plumbing that came from Cadlights in the overflow area in the tank, but switched out the fittings underneath with US standard sized plumbing. If your tank is the same as mine you should be able to take the fittings to Lowes or Home Depot and match up the threaded sides but with US standard coming out the other. Make sense?

No, it wasn't hard at all. Warm up the tube end, it softens up the tubing so it's easier to slip on the pump. Good luck!

I was able to glue standard pvc unions to the their bulkheads so I can use standard pvc for my plumbing. I also have a 3/4" to 1" hose barb adapter that I will use to attach my return pump with soft silicone tubing.
Hope this helps, I love my Artisan 70!
