I recently got a ICP test that indicated my calcium was at 5:80. The other parameters or within limits. I board a friends handler checker to verify these results.

I suspect my calcium level has been at this level for at least 6 to 7 months because of a bad calcium test kit. The day I collected the ICP sample it read 420.

I have a Red Sea Reefer 350 with an estimated 60 gallons of tank water volume.

I stopped my 2 part dosing and Kalc since receiving the results last night.

My Colima, should I add alkalinity to maintain the 9.5 level while allowing the calcium to come down naturally or should I do persistent water changes to bring it down quickly? All my corals, except for one, appear to be thriving.
Thanks

Ricky

I wouldn't do any drastic change like stopping 2-part before reverifying the results, especially when the corals look healthy.

If it is in fact high, I would simply decrease the daily amount of calcium you currently dose and let it slowly drift back into normal levels.

Remember - ICP tests are as good as the technician that operate them, and mistakes do occur.
