Okay reef fam, I need help.

I’m 3 months into this tank and calcium is absolutely wrecking me. It’s sitting at a jacked-up 580 ppm. Meanwhile, my alkalinity and pH were chilling way too low (7.4 dKH and 7.5 pH), so I thought, “hey, maybe my CaribSea aragonite is leaking calcium like it’s trying to make a career out of it.”

I have been doing 25% water changes. Three days in a row but my calcium still takes off by the morning. I have used an Hanna tester and API tester.

Now I’m trying to buffer with Seachem Reef Buffer just to hold alk and pH around 8.0 so the tank doesn’t completely go rogue.

I’m using Tropic Marin Pro Reef and my fresh saltwater tests normal so this calcium overload is 100% homegrown.

Any thoughts, theories, or rituals to lower calcium without summoning Poseidon?

Calcium does not rise on its own, and 580 ppm is not a big deal, even if accurate. I’m not a fan of the Hanna calcium. Try it on some new salt water.
