No, it is not necessary or probably worth modifying it. Korallin is reverse flow too and they have the intake to the pump stick down an inch or two into the body and not be flush with the top.

Second chamber only does anything if there is excess co2 leaving the first chamber. You can tune them so that there is no extra co2 and then a second chamber does not do anything.
So I got the new metering valve and it has so much more control than the med flow valve. I am ready to tune this reactor.

Start with about 40 drops and 10 bubbles per minute. Tomorrow test the dKh from the reactor - Salifert Alk test kit is fine for this (just get as many of the small syringe as you need and add the multiples together). Let us know what it says.

Can I use my hanna for dkh? Or will it be out of the range. Do you have a write up on how to tune it?

You want it 20-30 dKh, or so. I dunno how high the Hannah goes... sorry.

I wrote a ton on this thread. Basically, stop using a co2 controller, get the bubbles and output to where you are at 20-30 dKh, measure and record each for your ratio, then adjust that ratio up/down for demand in your tank by testing tank dKh.

That makes sense. I like your tuning a carb reference I was trying to tune the reactor to not use the pH controller. Now I will tune to get a 20-30 dkh. And then set the flow and bubble count to the tanks demand.

15 dKh might even work for your tank. The idea is that you have to figure out your demand versus what your reactor is doing. I need to be more near 25 dKh with a heavily stocked acropora tank that has a ton of Coralline and a few large clams.
