Ads for the new reborn media say that it's different in order to comply with CITES. I wonder if that's true and if so, would this stuff from Alibaba even be legal to import?

There was a thread a while back where someone in the bay area found a building materials wholesaler that had a several tons of this stuff. His LFS got some from them but they would only deal wholesale.

Retail came out slightly higher than reborn I believe. If that's the case this stuff would still be too expensive to be worth TLF's effort.

I agree it's prob a decent opp for a hobbyist that has a few k and a shed to spare.

I was going to be that guy but I keep buying coral and I have kids so the shed is full hahahaha.
You would think TLF would take a good opportunity while it’s available. Nobody likes that new media. I but I’ve heard over 100 complaints in the last 60 days.

I was wondering the same. They act like it is. What would a few mm matter when it comes to importing coral bones?

Just fyi container shipments from China have skyrocketed. Like 3 or 4 times the cost from 2019. And you have to pay for priority service (somewhere around $2000 on a standard container) to get your container on the boat any time soon. So that will end up being a fair amount more than the $500 you're being quoted

I think I'd prefer size 4, but anything from 3 to 5 would work.

I was contemplating this CaRx media issue earlier and I was wondering why we couldn't use dry rock rubble.

I’m agree with you. Size 4 is about the same as the old reborn. I’ll email him back and let him know. 3-5 range is perfect. We’ll see if we can get a sample for analysis. :)

Let’s see what happens next. ;Hilarious

I spoke with the guys and we would like very small samples of sizes 3, 4, & 5. We are pretty sure size 4 is what we’re looking for. When I say small..10 pieces of each sample is enough. We will test it to make sure there are not heavy contaminants and if the product test normal, we’ll buy 1-20 tons. Let me know how to proceed.

Kind regards,
Jared - - - - -

This guy is ready to send it:

Hello,

I'll send you the sample, do you have a DHL or FedEx account number?
Please give us your company and consignee information.
Thank you.

Best Regards,

I’m getting interested to test these samples. I wonder how long a ton of CaRx will last us? That’s 2,000 lbs. Maybe we should go for 20 tons... bag it... and ship to everybody who needs some.

Just opened a bag of the new TLF Reborn, the small stuff. I can't believe how dirty it was. I had to wash and wash it. Just wouldn't get clean. I must have used 20 gallons of water to get it acceptable.
