mine has gotten up to 8.8, but i don't worry about it.

When it was that high did it effect any of your corals?

I use the diy Randy Holmes Farley mix. Dow Flake for Calcium, washing soda(instead of the recommended baking soda) for alk, and Epsom Salts for Magnesium. works great and is super cheap.

Thanks for the link. It sounds like its alot cheaper than buying 2-part and mag suppliments.

Ya, its dirt cheap compared to the commercial supplements. I have been using it for a couple years now with no negative issues.

Larry, I went to HomeDepot to buy Dowflake few months ago but could not find one...

nothing bad has happened; everything is growing and showing good color.

I actually got it from another reefer Chris, but he got it from Home Depot. Weather is getting colder, so they should start carrying it again. Its also used as driveway salt in winter here.

I use the Randy recipe also. Works great.

No Dowflake at Home Depot in my area though. Got mine from www.buckeyefieldsupply.com

prestone driveway heat is how i got mine last year; also check local landscaping companies, they tend to have the mag flake as well.
