I have a chance on snagging a great deal on some Vortech Mp40s QD locally. I have a 48x20.5x13 frag style tank. If they are ran on the lowest setting will it be overkill for my tank? Mixed reef.

I've never had Vortechs so don't know a lot about them. Want to snag them because I know they will be good for future tanks but want to make sure I could use them now.

Those are 2 mp10's I have in a 22 gal cube. Those guards disperse the bullseye flow enough I can run them anti sync 80% with no sand storm. Mine are on the back glass. Your length if you oppose them on the sides, 40 to 50% I'd say w/out worry.

I have a pair of MP40 on a frag tank about the same size. I run them in anti synch mode to about 60% capacity. They are broad flow pumps.

Those would work perfectly for that size tank :)

MP40s will work fine on that size of tank. If you have a sand bottom, you might have to keep the flow turned down somewhat since your tank isn't that deep. Otherwise, it will pull sand up into it and blow throughout the tank.
