I am cleaning out my tank and I found this on some of my rocks and the back glass. Can anyone tell me what this is? Algea? Matte coral?

Probably some type of algae. Perhaps a really think sheet of cyano. Did you notice a kind of "bloom" where one day it just appeared in sheets? Try to get a pic of some in the tank.
