Tank has been up for awhile. Nitrates are below 20. Can I add shrimp, starfish, etc yet?

I wouldn't. Unless you are referring to hermit crabs or something. Also btw 2 months is not a while. IMO anything under 8 months is still very new

Of course you can, 2 and a half months is quite enough time. I'd wait on starfish, unless you're getting something easy, but other than that get shrimp crabs, whatever you want!

What kind of shrimp or starfish? They all have different food requirements. Many hermit crabs are considered omnivores feeding on algae and excess food or snails. Starfish, depending on the specie can either be real easy or real difficult to care for. I would look into the requirements for what you're looking to add and see if it would work for you?
