So basically I have a quite simple question... Ive had my tank running for about 5 weeks, but my params and quite stable. The only things I have in my tank are 3 leathers, a zoa frag, and a mushroom (with a clown goby and snails). I wouldn't really be considering this but I have two reasons, number one, theres a great sale at my LFS (don't know how much backing this has but hey, it temps me), the second Is the real reason, I had some encrusting montipora sneak in on one of the rocks that my leather was on, and it quite open, it was already quite bleached but its covering back up, so maybe I could try a few easy LPS corals? Or could I get another softie and try to wait another week or two just to be safe?

You could get one but it’s better to wait to get coral after the ugly stage since params are stabler

Ugly stage. Algae growth. All new tanks go through it. I battled it for 4 months.

Ive see a small bit of algae growth on my sand bed, and a little on my rock, but not much... and haven't yet, and I already have some fish...

You will get more algea growth. If you look at one of the cycling a tank it will explain the stages I bought a hammer right about the same time as you are now and it was fine, it is best to wait but I don’t see any issue with getting one now.

I think its buy 3 "live stock" get one 60% off, tempting, but my LFS does sales a lot so I might just wait, but I of course wanna check it out.
I would say that isn’t a screaming deal that would make me want to rush into something. I would say maybe only start with 1 piece, getting 4 lps and realizing your tank isn’t right/ready would be a buzz kill.

I would only get like a hammer and blasto, but ill wait for a 35%ish sale which they do all the time.

Starting slow is better. However if you find a killer deal, jump on it.

Alright, unless I see something I really love today, I might just get some softies and wait till next weekend or the weekend after that, thanks!

Hammer I wouldn't hesitate on(euphyllia are some of the easiest LPS), and are pretty hardy even through the ugly stages. The blasto on the other hand, I would wait on.

Keep in mind, most softies we keep in the hobby can become very invasive rather quickly.

I went to the LFS and grabbed a multicolor Lubbock's wrasse, a zoa, a hammer, and then a candy cane. I think I made a good choice and the corals are acclimating. Also I was lying about the sale, it was buy 3 get anything free, so it was quite good.

Update on the hammer coral ? I’m almost at 4 week mark. I’m dying to do a hammer as well.

I wouldnt get anything yet either. I battled algae for about 3 months. Had corals in during that time, but if I were to do it again I would wait. I am in teh process of setting up a 120. This time I started my rock in a garbage can to get them cycled first.
