I have a yellow tang in my 65 gallon aquarium I originally got him as a baby, and had him in my 45 grow up tank, he’s gotten pretty big, but he’s become quite a little bully so I was wondering if I could put another tang in to take some of that agression from the other fish? And what kind of tang would be possible also I know tangs should be in bigger aquariums, my dad has an 100 gallon he’s gonna go into when he’s fully grown ☺️

I am my no means a tang expert, but that is not a yellow tang. I'm going to guess maybe a mimic lemon peel. @4FordFamily should be able to help in the ID.

And 65 gallon is really pushing it for any tang....so definitely no second tang.

That may be a tang that's yellow, but it's not a yellow tang

The answer is to re-home him, not add another
Its a chocolate tang and Not a yellow

I think the others had said that re homing the fish is best. Based off what I see on some sites, they can grow to 10 inch and need minimum 125 gallons.

1.) Re home the mimic tang
2.) get another tang that your interested in.

a yellow tang and kole eye tang would be nice as they are different species of tangs and wouldnt have much or any agression towards one another.

get the small and introduce them at the same time and you will have many great years together. Just know you will eventually need to upgrade your tank as most tangs do best in 100g or more.
