Can led burn corals????

today i traded sme of my chalices for two used cannon led 100 wt pendants 455nm and 12k.....
now my question is i am setting up a brand new 60gln mainly for my top notch pieces chalices acans other sps or maybe couple clams......i was planning to light it up with just one
blue 100 wt 455nm pendant....it that gne be too blue..i dnt mind blue tank but dnt know if this will be more bluer than my 20k halides....
how about hooking up both the pendants instead white and blue to get better shimmer effect.....is it too much for my tank..will it will burn corals....

yes leds can burn corals just like any other lighting.

From what I have seen, LEDS can quite severely burn LPS. SPS can also be burned, but they tend to brown out more than anything that I have seen. The key is to progressively build up to a full photo period...adding half an hour to an hour every couple of days until you achieve the desired photo period.

Keep a close eye on your corals and if they start to lose color or bleach you will need to adjust the photo period accordingly.

Rather than increasing photo-period you would be better off slowly increasing intensity. Even a brief period of over exposure can cause harm

other strategies could be to keep your cannons relatively high and slowly lower them during acclimation period until you get a desired height. Cannons would tend to be focused in a smaller area(depending on optics) so you may not be to flexible on height. I would prefer dimming the intensity though.

100% they can.. so many of my customers and friend had thier corals burn or had bad experience with LED.. =(

It depends on the type of LEDs and the size of your tank, but that likely is too much.

Definitely yes, because LED's are more powerful than you think. Par rating wise.

my new tank dimensions r 36x20x24....i know it too much but buying another set of sme other light is another expense....
even if i raise it let say 24 inches above the my tank...would it still be more than what i need

What kind of LEDs? Do you have any way of dimming them?
