I think that's a Trachy, not a Lobo.Speaking of lobos, mine seems a little pale and definitely puffed up. Now granted it's new to the tank, but yeah...
Interesting. How can you tell the difference between lobos and pachyseptas ?Left is Acanthastrea pachysepta, not Lobo.
Lobos can touch, but you've got to look out for pachyseptas, which can be hard to spot.
The most tell-tale difference is the flesh texture. The orange coloration and septal beading aren't always present (the latter, especially in captivity), and both of these traits can also be seen in Lobophyllia (the latter less so).Interesting. How can you tell the difference between lobos and pachyseptas ?
Edit : I just found and read this article.

already beat you to itTrachy / Wellsophyllia (formerly)
Common behavior trait for them to massively inflate
Saw that after lolalready beat you to it
Supposedly, "Wellsophyllia" are just mature Trachys whose thecae have fused, though I have seen some juvenile specimens which go against this conjecture.Saw that after lol
I remembered to use “former” in the wellso id. And to use the proper current name. This would have been called a wellso years ago.
I don’t know what they are thinking calling these the same thing. Maybe the same genetically but growth pattern is different
