Can pencil urchin’s hurt fish and people?

A pencil urchin I have likes to hang the hole my fish likes to sleep in so I’m wondering if the pencil urchin goes in his hole could he hurt him? I’m also wondering if I touch the urchin will it sting me?

A pencil urchin I have likes to hang the hole my fish likes to sleep in so I’m wondering if the pencil urchin goes in his hole could he hurt him? I’m also wondering if I touch the urchin will it sting me?

I've handled many pencil urchins and have never been harmed by them. I suppose it is possible for a pencil urchin to trap a slow moving fish in a hole, but I've never seen that happen.
