I picked up a clam from a frag swap over the weekend. It was in a container with multiple other clams in a frag tank. Looked pretty good. It was opened as much as it could be with the other clams around it. The color was the best and I was told its an ORA cultured ultra maxima clam that they had for a couple months. So I bought it. Got it home and acclimated, was late and the lights were out by the time I got it in the tank. Next day I take a look and can see right though the clam to the sand bed. Is the clam a goner? Its still opening up but doesn't seem to be fully extending.

Thanks

No not a goner...your looking through the byssal opening where usually the clam attaches to a hard surface with byssal threads...I would suggest a rock or she'l to put under him...beautiful clam...

I’ve got him up on the rocks. He seems to be doing pretty good. He still hasn’t attached to the rocks tho.

Sometimes they jump around causing them to fall. so what I like to do is get them attached while still on the bottom and then move him to where I think he'l be happy. And it makes it easier if you do have to move him along the line.
