Can you mix rock when cycling your tank?

Someone gave me this piece years ago and i think its Tonga Branch?

Can you put in in your tank when your starting to cycle along with base rock or would that not be good to mix it?

should be fine, it's gonna cycle with the rest of the rock anyway. maybe give it a rinse before putting it in
