Can you give a deresa too much light? I ask because I have a maxima that has been growing well for about 6 months. I have tried to add 2 different deresas and they do not sit still. After a couple days they move themselves to the edge of my rock work and lay on their side

Derasas like to be on the sandbed and do not need as much light as a maxima.

As mentioned, they are naturally found on reef flats and sandy bottoms. They are very adaptive to different lighting, but I would start them on the lower side (around 200 micro moles, give or take). Buy James Fatherree's book if you haven't done so already?
