Can you paint your rock purple?

The question is can you purchase any type of purple paint to color your rock work ? I've been told Kroyal back in the day but I wanted to know if 2016 has anything new in the marketplace?

I wouldn't. Any purple corals that are growing on a purple rock, will not show very well. I would rather gray rock for that reason.

Painting will seal the rock and severely diminish the rocks ability to support the biological filtration. Remember, the majority of the filtration occurs within the rock, not the surface.

+1 for not painting it. Too much risk for a small gain. Better off working on getting coralline to grow. There are lots of ways to accelerate this which are explained on numerous YouTube videos and I'm sure there are plenty of threads out there. The natural way is always the better way in my opinion.

Agree not painting would be my suggestion as well. BUT raises a Q...how do marco rocks get their color.

There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this. They use the purple primer.

Buy Reef Rock - already purple and the pores in the rock are open.. if you do it.
Basically you have a painted anchor... I would not even bother... rock is then useless.
Just buy some Purple up calcium liquid and in 3 months you will have all the purple you want.
