Can you use aluminium screen rails to make a top

Can you use the aluminum screen rails commonly found at home depot to make an aquarium top? I have some powder coated bronze ones, the spline, 90's and some 1/4" clear mesh I could use but would the aluminum be a problem above saltwater?

Also to be fair, I lived in Huntington Beach and those kinda screens on house near the ocean seem to fair pretty well for a lot years. Direct sunset and ocean spray right on them every morning.

hi ,i would recommend spraying aluminum w a coat of exterior high gloss enamel,for long term use ,aluminum will oxidize in time

Yes ! Forgot to mention I used krylon fusion spray paint

Well I guess I should go get some fusion and get that thing on there.

I made tops using the white frames about 10 years ago. They have held up perfectly. The only small issue I had is that the spline loses some elasticity over the years and probably needs replacing soon.
