Take rock out of tank. Sorry new to reefing. My local Aquarium store said when I first noticed it that it was new growth. Won’t ask them again

Take rock out of tank. Sorry new to reefing. My local Aquarium store said when I first noticed it that it was new growth. Won’t ask them again
No reason to be sorry, You don't have to take the rock out. Sponge isn't harmful. But it might make it easier to get to if you did.

Had quite a few different sponges like that when my tank was new. They were popping up all over but seem to eventually disappear. Was seeing pineapple sponges all over the sump as well in the early stages.

I had some pineapple sponges a few months back. This thing is at least 12” across
