Hey all! So my Oase filter which doubles as a cryptic zone guit today. I ordered another but it won’t be here for week. So my question is, I made a bucket of fresh salt water but won’t be able to put the rock rubble in it with a pump until tomorrow. Will the life on and in the rock rubble be okay inside the filter house until then with no movement in the water?

Can you put airstone in there with lid off?
Edit: I mean in the canister filter

Can you take the rubble rock and put it in a filter socks and drop it in your tank, which I assume has powerheads?

That is what I plan to do if my canister filter quits.

Mine started to have a faint smell of h2s in 24 hours. In my case, I turned it off for feeding and forgot it off.
Thank you! I am hoping it is all good. I just lowered the small power head down into where the prefilter goes, and made sure it had surface agitation.

Hydrogen sulfide smells like rotten eggs. Organic decomposition in the absence of oxygen. Most gas utility companies add h2s as a leak detector warning.

In mature aquariums with deep sand beds, I could see the black line against the glass and when I stirred it up, it had a very slight rotten eggs smell.
