For those of you out there running a canister filtration system what is your recommended setup? Do you put rock rubble in the canister or not? I usually will run carbon and the filter pads. Is this the best setup, recommendations?

I'm pretty sure everyone here does not like them. They are known as nitrate factories. My 75 had one be for I owned it. You have to be religious in cleaning that filter sponge. But yea I'm coming up on a year and I use mine to run carbon

On mine i run

floss/carbon,purigen/seachem matrix

I rinse the matrix, dump the canister, and change out floss every sunday as part of my water change.

Pretty easy maintenance imo
