So I've got a Canon 50 D that I've been trying to take some pictures of my tank with and I'm just not getting the quality that I want. I read through the threads at the top of the page and have tired a few of their suggestions, but the pictures still seem to come out with an extra blue hue to them. So if anyone on here has this camera and knows the tricks to make the pictures come out right please let me know what that trick is. Thanks.

Would you guys please share your settings on the camera.I am a Canon user, and I love the camera, one way to fix the blue coul dbe Coustom white balance.

Like said above custom white balance plays a huge role in canceling out the blue in pictures....

Coustom WB is a HUGE play roll in reef photography. Here are 2 pictures taken with and with out Coustom WB.

Notice the color differince?I do!

Wow, that's a big difference. I'm just learning to use the camera so I've been using auto settings. I'll set the white balance tomorrow and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!!!

Austin,

I have tried the custom white balance on my canon and while it takes the blues down a notch it makes the greens way too yellow for me. I have to shoot in raw mode and use photoshop to adjust the color temp to 20k. That is the only way I can get the actual colors I see. BTW I use the sand as the custom white balance reference. Should it be done another way?

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry to Hijack the thread But It was along the same topic line..

Im not a pro by any means, but I like to use a plate,I went out and drove to walmart, bought a $.97 cent plate that was all white, held it under the water, took a little black marker and used that as an AF point,I then went into the camera and set the WB to that.

Takes good pictures.

Try using a solid white object other than sand,a frag plug, plate,PVC,etc.
