Looking to get my calcium reactor operating. I have a korallin 1502 fed by a kamoer dosing pump. I just welcomed my 2nd child so life is crazy. To avoid tinkering I’m considering a carbon doser or the aqua wiz calcium reactor controller. I can’t find much user info beyond the company’s own.

But a new carbon doser is $100 less than a full controller. Curious others thoughts on the two? I realize adding the aqua wiz will unlock full automation but I already have a trident so another $800 isn’t in the cards at the moment. I have an apex so I can program the control, I just hear setting bubbles on a needle valve is not super reliable.

My carbon doser and a Milwaukee ph meter with a Kamoer dosing pump
Allows rock steady operation. It has to be set up and adjusted to fit the system, and it is good to test regularly and adjust accordingly, but once it is working it should not need much attention other than to adjust as coral demands increase and change out the CO2 bottle before it gets empty.

How is the Whiz performing running the calcium reactor?
I took it offline awhile ago for a few reasons. The design of the calcium reactor I had at the time would collect co2 at the top of co2 was dumped in. The way the calcium reactor controller works is by dumping in co2 itstead of trickling it in. If I had the aquamaxx style calcium reactor at the time it would have been fine.

So I went the route of two stage regulator and precise flow valve. My apex controls the pH and a dosing pump. So I adjust the dosing pump runtime to either get more or less alkalinity.

In the end I wanted more control. For someone that wants an easy way to control a CaRx it’s the way to go.

I use a kamoer, 2 stage regulator.
I run 30dkh effluent and only need to adjust the Kamoer when demand calls for it.
No ph probe or controller needed.
Co2 is controlled with a needle valve on the 2 stage. Reactor runs ph of 6.5 when effluent is checked.
Simple as can be.
