Recently over the Christmas break I was doing some tank maintenance while doing a water change and while doing so, I went to straighten out one of my lights that I have HANGING. As soon as I even touched it...swoop, splish, splash it went. Well, me being me, in shock at the split second, I reached in the tank (all the while standing on a metal ladder) and grabbed the light out of the tank...And As I was pulling the connecting power source wires out of the fixture, I realized what I had done and with each wired pulled, I said Thank you Lord. Now that said, these lights have been up for about 10 years! Even in an Old plaster/slat ceiling. When I hung them it I was in an "Exited state" to get them hung as soon as possible. So please, when you do any DIY try not to do it in a hasty manner as I did. As for the light that took a swim...AI back in the day, knew what they were doing. I dried it off, took it apart to notice that they had put in a nice sealing O-ring to protect the insides. I then dried it further with a hair drier (on low temp) and let it set for about a week. Yesterday, I plugged it in...Boom! it still works! (we'll see for how long). Anyway, that is my Christmas story and I hope someone can learn from my mistakes. Have a Safe Reefing New Year!
