So I am looking to build a couple sumps out of an old 55 and an old 75 gallon tanks. I know that the center brace is very important to help prevent the front and back panels from bowing. But being that I will be putting in multiple baffles approx. 12 inches tall for bubble traps, refugium, and return sections. I would love to not have to have that brace in the way when dealing with equipment and plumbing. You guys think it will be safe to just cut it out? I mean the volume of water will be around 6 inches less than what the tanks were designed for.

With the baffles in I would think it would be ok.
