Center brace.

Is a 2x4 center brace needed for a 75 gal. Or is a double header sufficient.

My rule of thumb is that if it was put there, then there is a reason for it. But other have removed the center brace and have replaced it with Acrylic/Glass so that it does not cause any shadowing.
