So i have a fluval evo thats just about 9 months. Tank is doing well, and i just threw in some marine pure ceramic balls. The plan is to use them on my 65g rebuild. In the mean time, i bought a PNW CUSTOMS micro reef and also plan to use the ceramic in that..... my question. How long does the ceramic media need to be in my fluval to become properly seeded?

I heard a lot of people say 2 to 4 weeks to seed healthy bacteria populations in rock/ceramics. I lean more towards 3 or 4 weeks for the best effectiveness.

I would think 3-4 weeks at least. The longer the better. You can also use the filter fiber you should have in one of your chambers. Make sure it’s dirty enough. And squeeze the sponge in your new tank water. Maybe not all of it, but some of it.
