Chaeto clear parts

So I just started chaeto for the first time and I notice it has some clear portions on it which has me either thinking growth or die off. Any ideas?

I've killed a lot of chaeto and have a 0% success rate at keeping it alive... and when it was dead, it looked like that clear color!

I think its dying Chaeto. But I've got Chaeto thats growing (slightly) and has these spots so idk. Chaeto is so fussy in my systems.

Not sure why its dying. I have this light, 3 inches from it.
Nitrate 15ppm
Alk 8.4
Temp 78
Salinity 1.025
Reverse 10 hr photo period
I'll continue to monitor
