Does anyone know of a fish or invert that could control chaeto and not be too large for a 14g nano? This stuff came in on some rocks and is out of control!!!:squigglemouth:

Thanks.

IME, chaeto doesn't have much of a root system, so it never grew back when I pulled it by hand.

Are you sure it's not hair algae?

I know for a fact it isn't hair algae. I can post a pic if needed. This stuff is like weeds. I even left all my rock in a closed container for a month and it is still coming back.

me to. dang stuff in so many nooks and crannies cant get it all. I took all the rocks out of my tank a month ago and picked at them wit tweezers and it is still coming back with force.

I should say its not cheto but it is some kind of algae. It grows on a single rhizome and has individual leaves that are about a half inch long. I need sme help with this.

I have had chaeto take root in rock in my frag system before. I know it will take root for sure. I had to just pull it out, but you never really get rid of the root parts and they grow back.

I recently got a few scarlet hermits and they are holding it at bay. It would still be nice to find a fish that could do a lot more damage.

Emerald crab. Ever wonder why they are green? Little buggers THRIVE on all manner of algea and grass in the tank.

Well I got two emerald crabs. They are eating it, but they are just too slow for it. I hate to have to boil the rocks, but it looks like it may be my only option at this point.

:(

im in the same boat. im thinking of gust getting new rock. Put the old rock in the system somewhere and add base rock to the DT.

Well everyone the emerald crabs didn't work. I gave them a month. I finally took out all the rock and boiled it. I hated to do this because of all the life on them, but I had no other choice. I'll post a pic so everyone can see how it turned out.
