I would say intensity as well. As for coincidence, maybe maybe not. it is hard to tell in this hobby what is and what is not cause and affect.

Huh? That's why we have discussions like this. To share experiences and get to the bottom of mysterious cause and effect relationships.

hmm...interesting theories. but just throwing something out there...couldn't we also say if you target feed too much and the chalice "realizes" that there is food that's being missed out on, it might create some new eyes to get the excess food?

Sorry I had multiple things on my mind and I obviously failed at getting my thought in to writing. I apologize. My post is so screwd I can't even remember what I was trying to get at.

Didnt mean to pick on you. It takes a big man to admit when he's rambling.

Wouldn't getting less light (spectrum or intensity) than you need for your zoanthelle (SP?) to produce at their peak cause a greater need for mouths to gather actual food? My thought would be if eyes are food gathering and flesh is playing host to food generating material, if food is more readily available I would grow more eyes to eat more. If the light is great, why not grow wide to soak in that sun, much easier than growing eyes for the food...

just a theory...
