I doubt they are collected that deep......on most dives that I have been on you only see sponges and NP corals below 100 feet or so......that is just from my own diving experience and I certainly haven't dove everywhere, although I wish I could!

cheers,
Darren

Excuse me if i am wrong but arn't all chalices pretty much considered "deepwater" collected. I read a long article awhile back about the collection of chalices in australia. They were collecting them all in the 150 to 300 foot deep range. They actually had to give the corals decompression time because if they brought them straight up they would instantly melt.

it's obviously a deep water chalice (similer to all of the ones coming in to a certian wholesaler), and from mine, as well as my friends experience, when we purchase deep waters, they wont grow near as fast.

I'm not saying it wont be a slow grower, but i am pretty sure it will be, it looks alot like the charlie sheen that i had gotten from kris, and that thing grew farily slow. Most deep waters do, with the exception of a few...i'm not trying to argue, i'm just stating my experience with chalices similer to it, that is all.
lol..

Nice colonies ReeFreshing. That third one is gonna be a looker over time and I like the gold one too.

Check out my Tyree Volcano Chalice frag. Its getting some sick color and a blue rim under good light....and those nasty Rainbow eyes. It will be cool to see what happens with this one as it adjusts to captivity :)
