I have been running a ZeoVit system in my sumped 2x2x2 cube for 3yrs with reasonable success.
However, work has changed over the last 6 months and I spend some days/nights away, so I need to change my system to something requiring less upkeep - I currently leave the daily Zeo additive dosing (start/bak/sponge power etc) to my wife and two young children, who aren't happy doing this and I don't want burden them with the responsibility.

Tank also runs a 3 channel doser (Calc, Mag, Kh), Deltec skimmer, ATU.
Sump only has 3x compartments (1)Water inlet and skimmer (2) Deltec Zeo reactor, Carbon bag & return pump. (3) RO for ATU.

Have been thinking about an Algae reactor, I'm not fond of the Triton method and due to the sump design, I can't have a fuge.

So, what says R2R, do I go algae reactor or some other method?

The options are a good old tried and tested fuge or a algae turf scrubber. Both can serve the purpose and easier to maintain.

I have been using ATI essentials PRO. Only 2 part dosing. No fuge/scrubber needed. It is a modified balling method. I am very happy with the results in my mixed reef.

Hadn't contemplated an algae scrubber as I assumed they wouldn't cope with the size of my system. That's why I swayed towards an algae tractor.

ATI Essentials … I'll do some research.

Have used Triton, Red Sea and Aquaforest "systems" in the past. Currently using ATI Essentials Pro and feel that it is the easiest to maintain of all. Also getting just as good if not better results than with any of the others.

In case you want to move towards balling dosing then I am using Aquaforest balling since last 3+years and with great results. You can find the link to my tank below in my signature.

If I remove my Zeo reactor (by swapping to ATO Essentials), I'll be reducing my nutrient export system?
Is this right? In which case I'll need a large surface media of some sort.
