I agree. Maybe it's not doable or I guess the method would be here somewhere?

I don't use copper, and have never looked into the specifics, so I'm not sure what chelator you are looking for.

The recipe in that link is copper chelated with citrate, but I presume you mean something else.

I’m confused and don’t have a lot knowledge in this area. Well out of my depth.

Have been in discussion with @HotRocks ,@Humblefish and @4FordFamily about ionic and Chelated.

From what I understood:

The DIY Copper above produced ionic. Now it looks like Chelated. So is this the same as Coppersafe and CopperPower?

Seachem Cupramine is ionic?

Coppersafe and CopperPower is Chelated?

Can you clear any of this up?

Cheers

Coppersafe/copper power are definitely chelated.

Cupramine/cuprion are ionic.

I'd assume copper sulfate pentahydrate is also ionic just by the therapuetic range.

@Christoph any insight here?

I hate the terms used by folks selling copper meds because they are not correct.

All copper sold to reefers is ionic (the alternative is copper metal), and some of it is chelated and some is not.

Cupramine is a proprietary compound that they will not say what it is (at least last time the owner of Salifert and I tried to get the info to determine if the Salifert kit would read it correctly, which admittedly was a number of years ago).

Copper sulfate is not chelated.

Copper citrate is chelated, but DO NOT assume all chelated copper is equivalent. It definitely is not.

Coppersafe is chelated, but I cannot find with what. Fritz does not, apparently, want to reveal what it is. They hide behind "chelated copper sulfate".
