Chemipure Blue or purigen

I’ll have to have a look I think it was a Chinese study but it was a study referenced within a study. The gist of it was that organic resins cannot absorb phosphate in alkaline environments ie above a ph of 7 or more which marine tanks are. They were trying to modify a specific resin with Lanthanum Oxalate so it could be used effectively in alkaline applications, it was a study quoted within that one but I’ll have to try and trace if.
 
They may do it in fresh water. That would be the justification, anyway.

They do not specifically distinguish marine applications from freshwater applications for each specific claim.
Would it then follow that chemi pure elite is superior to chemi pure blue for marine tanks despite the marketing as chemi pure elite contains ferric oxide rather than the organic resins contained in chemi pure blue for the phosphate removal element whilst still containing gac and ion exchange resins ?

If the goal is phosphate reduction, the elite is certainly a more effective choice.

Sadly, their claims are not all accurate. Perhaps they are accurate in freshwater, and they "allow" them to "accidentally" get confounded by users to mean it works the same way in seawater.

"Chemi-pure Blue is a revolutionary filtration media that is designed to adsorb nitrogenous organic molecules, along with phosphates and to some extent even nitrates "

To no useful extent will any organic resin directly bind phosphate or nitrate from seawater.

It will, like Purigen or GAC, bind organics, and some of those organics may be exported before they breakdown to release N and P, but there is no direct binding from seawater.
Not true new study just completed and it actually shows that it works better in saltwater than fresh water and it is on the order of 4x5 times more effective in saltwater so you are dead wrong sir

Are you being sarcastic?

You aren’t seriously suggesting that an ion exchange resin is useful in seawater? To do what, exactly?
