Chip in new tanks edge

Just got this tank over this past weekend, got it setup and added my bacteria, went to clean the front glass and noticed a large piece of silicone covering this 3” chunk of glass out of the edge. What would be the best way to go about getting everything out or should I live with it and it should be fine? Pretty bummed on this!

Ouch! It’s difficult to really see how deep this chip is!

Could we get photos from the face of the chipped pane, vs the edge? — that would help to see what’s going on here, but the likely answer is going to be to get a warranty replacement!

Ouch! Yeah… if it was a used tank, there are things that could be done to reinforce that area and make it last…

But… this is well into the structural seam, and greater than 50% of the glass thickness compromised… also, very long…

For a brand new tank, I’d get it warrantied under defects in materials and workmanship!


— silicone was definitely spread over the exterior of this chip when you discovered it, right? If so, this would definitely constitute as a glaring workmanship defect which was “swept under the rug”!

Since its new I'd be trying to get it replaced.
