Purchased a used tank and during the move from the van to the garage we chipped the back left corner. My gut is in my throat right now. Can this be salvaged in the morning with resin or the epoxy for windshield repair? Or should I got to Walmart and get the stuff now?

It doesn't look serious to me.

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then put it on its stand in the corner of your garage and fill it with water and leave it until your gut leaves your throat and your confidence is restored.

reach out to red sea and just see what their input is? I would 100% fill it outside or in your garage for a week and make sure there is no change in the crack. don't think anything you do to it would make a difference as far as strength

from the looks of it the break does not go through to the seal so i would assume you are good to go but i would talk to someone that makes tanks and i am sure getting some epoxy or whatever they suggest would not hurt to seal it up so it does not increase in size. Also once you add water the pressure may do something to make the problem worsen.

Wipe the area down with a wet rag so the glass dust and chips are gone. Post another pic. What's the long line to the left of the silicone, is that part of the damage?

I’d clean it up to remove the loose glass and also scrape the black covering off of that area of the back to make sure it’s not hiding any worse damage further into the panel.

I have used windshield repair kits in the past. The do a reasonably good job. The resin is cured by using a uv light.

I used windshield resin and will post pics after it’s cured. Thank you all.

Did you cure it with a UV? I had a rimless that had a very small chip in one of the top corners that drove me nuts. I used the windshield kit and was able to get it to a point of hardly being noticeable unless you knew where it was.

Yes I bought a UV light from Amazon and used clear packing tape to make a pouch to make up for the missing glass. Then cleaned up the top part. I don’t mind the clumpy part. It is on the back left of the tank.

I was able to shave off the resin with a razor blade to make it fairly smooth. The filler was not as hard as glass.

If it's only a scallop then NBD. Can you see any runners (cracks initiated around the chip)? If not, it's fine. If so, no epoxy, glue or whatever, is going to eliminate the chance of that crack running up the glass.
