Chocolate Tang Question

I’m thinking of getting a Chocolate Tang and a White Tail Bristletooth to replace my rehomed Naso that was getting too big.

I had a question about the Chocolate tang.

Should I get it as a juvenile or as a fully morphed adult?

I’ve read that the adult might not be as hardy?

But I would prefer the adult for the coloration and to better adjust to the baby yellow tang that is already in there

It’s just two! Haha

The yellow tang is almost 2-3 inches now, no doubt can handle itself as it is the more established in tank.

I have never had problems with chocolate tangs and the individual fishes is question, I cannot offer real help. I like to by fishes in person and take my chances.

I bought a clownfish last week and it seemed ok but the harliquin tusk decided to eat it. So, lately, I don't think my track record is worth much. I hit a slump. GL, wish I had better advice but hopefully people will chime in with something more useful as the thread gets traction?

Personally, I’d get the juvenile and watch it grow and transition into an adult over the year or two it takes. Acanthurus tangs, in general, are also going to be more aggressive. I’d assume especially if the chocolate is an adult with juvenile YT and bristle tooth.

My adult chocolate rules the tank with a yellow tang and yellow eyed Kole.

Ive never seen a juvenile in a store, just the adults. But they are pretty!

Yea I was never going to keep the Naso long term anyways though.
