Started march 6, 2013, here's my RSM 250. It's pretty much stock, except for changing the bulbs to ATI blue+, coral+, aquablue+, purple+, blue+,coral+, removing the sponges, and adding chemipure elite in an intank media rack.
I do weekly scrape downs and water changes of 15-20 gallons. Most recently, I have been using Tropic Marin Coral Pro salt, but I'm not happy with the parameters because their alk is only 7dkh in a new batch and I have to dose more than I'd like to. I just ordered Red Sea Coral Pro salt, so let's see how that works!

Dang Chrissy, nice looking tank but that LOBO doesn't look happy in there. I think it would look MUCH nicer in my tank, you should send it to me!

Everything is growing great! Got a new fish (nice juicy mandarin named Eustace), a couple of new corals, fragged my big monti cap, and changed salt my salt mix AGAIN. This time, I'm going with Red Sea Coral Pro. I wasn't happy with the parameters of the Tropic Marin and the Reef Crystals kept leaving behind a diatom like sediment.
So...time for some new pics.

Tank looks great! When you said reef crystals was leaving behind a diatom like sediment, did you mean in the freshly mixed water or after a water change and finding algae on the sides of the glass?

Thanks! On the side of the barrel of the newly mixed water. You couldn't see it until I rinsed and wiped the barrel after the water change and I could see it on the paper towels. I was also getting brown on the glass. We changed out the RODI filters, resin and membrane and it still happened. It didn't happen with the Tropic Marin, and the Red Sea Coral Pro leaves a white sediment in the barrel and so far nothing in the tank, but it has only been a few days with that one.

My alk goes down pretty fast, so I dose 15ml 2 times a day. The calcium I only put in about 3oz 2 times a week, and my magnesium doesn't change much... it always stays between 1400-1440. SO I only add tht when it drops under 1400. That was with the Tropic Marin Pro reef and my alk was staying between 7-8 and PH at 7.8. Since I switched to Red Sea Coral Pro, the PH and Alk are higher in the newly mixed water, so I have done 2 10 gallon water changes a few days apart and only dosed the alk once a day. Alk is at 8 today and ph is at 8.2. So, I'm still figuring out the amounts.

Thank you. I'm just getting into corals but I don't want to rush it. I will be getting a Bubble Magus 3-way doser and upgrade my API test kits to Red Sea's with the pro titrator.

Aside from my magnesium test kit, I still use API. They seem to work fine for me, but I would like to upgrade, too. A doser would be nice...I manually put everything into the tank including my top off. I haven't gotten adventurous enough, yet, to stray too far away from the stock RSM. LOL
