I prefer straight vinegar and a rag..... but be prepared to not breath it in while in tight spaces. You'll cough you head off with tears

yep, citric acid powder. Just search it up on amazon, buy food grade stuff that is the cheapest at the time of purchase. Usually 3/4 cup to a gallon of freshwater and no smell at all. After a powerhead magnet bulged from vinegar i switched over to citric, works well but i do think it take more time than white vinegar to soak pumps

I just pick up citric acid from Wal-Mart or a local grocery store.

Vinegar is good for stuff that doesn't have metal (i.e. magnets) encased in plastic. There is a chance the vinegar can penetrate the plastic and cause the metal to rush and swell and eventually break the plastic off. CHECK THIS OUT.

As far as citric acid, I purchase off Amazon or ebay...between 5 to 10 pounds, and mix 1 cup citric acid to a gallon of tap water. If you're going to let it sit around for some time....weeks to months....you'll want to add a preservative to keep the bacteria from growing....citric acid is food for bacteria. I use sodium benzoate at 0.1%, which is 3.8 grams....found at grocery stores, WalMart, Amazon, eBay, etc. Don't need much.

That is really good information, i havent had anything grow in my citric acid (yet) but prevention is always best, especially for the cheap stuff that lasts forever, thank you

I found a small container at the Heath food store .
$5.99
Amazon.ca has it for just under $20/ lb

Wow! I'm not moving to Canada. Without looking for a deal, $24 for ten pounds on Amazon US.

I looked up the exchange... 1.00 CA = 0.83 US
That's still expensive citrate.

I think the $48 dollars difference is going into Trudeau’s pocket to fund his next trip .
or he’s raising money for trumps next presidential election
