my maxima clam has bee attached to my rock work high up in my tank under a 4 bulb t5 unit for a few months now i upgraded my lights 2 days ago to 6x39w tek elite and i woke up today to find my clam detached laying on the sand bed does this mean its getting too much light or not enough my tank is 20" deep where should i place it

It sound like he just jumped off the rock they like to do that! U could put him in ttys sandbed then you wouldn't have to worry bout it jumpin off the rock

How did you light acclimate your tank? It sounds to me like it is getting too much light with the new setup.

Some clams will stop attaching once they reach a certain size. It proably wants less light due to the huge change in PAR at its current level. It will be fine.

I had always thought clams were better on the sand anyway for this reason...whether too mature or higher lights. Hope it is doing better for ya.

ive had the clam on the sand bed for the past couple of weeks now do you guys think its getting enough light its about 24 inches from the light
