I was wondering what size are clams when they are easiest to keep? I'm having issues with them dying when smaller than 2.5". All my levels are within specs. Any help would be great.

Which type are you having troubles with? Do they move around a lot before they die?

I've noticed that the small Maxima's are hard to make happy and they don't want to stay put. The more they get moved around the more stressed out they get. More stress causes death.

It all depends on the type of clam you want to keep. But a general size that they are more hardy is 3" and up.

I've had the croceas. They looked good for about a week and then stay open and die. Haven't had them mo e to much after placing them in the sand bed. Low water flow and oyster fest 3 times a week.

What fish and inverts do you have? What lighting do you have? What are your params?

No need to feed if you have fish and good lighting, the Oyster Feast shouldn't do much of anything for them.

Ahh, I have witnessed Peppermint shrimp kill clams before. I would look into possibly removing them and then try a clam again.
