Hey y'all, have any of you ordered clams from Algae Barn? Specifically the Blue Maxima or Crocea. Since they're not WYSIWYG, I'm worried that I may end up with a brown clam because they're such a good price. Thanks!

I haven't ordered clams from them - but a while back I was looking and they sent me some photos of their tank-o-clams. Might want to reach out to them.

They have brown/gold and blue in different categories - so you won't get a brown one if you order blue.

Thanks! I was really just worried that a "blue" maxima would have like a couple blue stripes/ dots and would be mostly brown. Theyre so cheap that it seems a little too good to be true.

Best place for clams hands down is from Dr Mac at Pacific East Aquaculture
I have scrolled through their site many a time.... they’re all gorgeous!! Algae barn has them for like $80-$120 (depending on grade) and calls them ‘blue maxima’ and $120 is still like $30 cheaper than the cheapest blue maxima from PEA. I’m just wondering if I can get the same quality for much less :)

I have had a “first grade colored” maxima from them for about 5 months and it’s awesome. Gained a lot of blue from when I first got it

I got a Croceca from them about 2 months ago. I could not be happier. The clam came in pest free very well shaped and actually larger than what I expected. The color and patterning are great. I will try to post pics when I get home from work.

Lol, morning light. Here’s a pic with blues lowered and whites raised

Pretty clam! Here’s my maxima from LFS which they described to me as being ‘ultra grade’ 100% white and blue pics. I think it’s really pretty and really blue, I’m trying to figure out if I’m able to get something like this from algae barn

I just received a first grade color and its completely brown, how long did the color take for you? Its been about a week for me and I've noticed only the edge on one side of the mantle coloring up.

They're ORA clams so I'm guessing the grading is done by them. You can buy ORA clams from a number of different sites, and I think some sites have ORA wysiwyg. I believe the pricing is supposed to be set by ORA but still might be more expensive wysiwyg.
