Increase lighting intensity and lower the clam in the tank, or do smaller more frequent water changes.

Have you measured PAR in your tank?

Clams are exposed to air on the reef during low tide (and it rains on them too) all the time without issue. Don't overthink this, just do a water change and they'll be fine. No need to move them and stress them out. Just do a search in YT for clams, low tide.
