That’s a doozy of a first fish for that tank! Good luck to any others that enter Thunderdome ;)

@Sharkbait19 I have gave in to the algae and this weekend I will be purchasing a cuc to get rid of my algae. I know i will have snails and a fire shrimp but any suggestions?
What kind of snails?
Fire shrimp eats mostly meaty foods to my knowledge.
If it were me, I’d get a fleet of hermit crabs, an emerald crab, nerite, astrea, and trochus snails for algae, nassarius snails for cleaning up the sandbed, and a pistol shrimp (and later a shrimpgoby) to help on the sandbed as well.

I was researching pistol shrimp and do you think it will kill my stuff? What type of pistol shrimp would you get

Tiger and candy cane pistols are harmless. Which type to get depends on the goby.
Any of the pairing ones are blind as a bat and couldn’t hurt anything. They may occasionally steal a snail or hermit as furniture but only temporarily.
The larger, non pairing pistols are more risky.

PICS hermits are being shy.

I am beginning to second guess and don't know if i will get the clowns. I really want either Biotas pre-pellet trained mandrians or a ruby red. There are some really pretty Dragonets and gobies.

I personally wouldn’t put any dragonet in a tank this small. It will be very expensive to try to keep fed.

Sounds good to me. It really all depends on how the damsel and clowns get along, but there should be enough territory.
Gobies are good at staying out of the way.

I was wondering... when will it be safe to add coral? If so what types? I also did a water change a few days ago.

How long has the tank been set up?
Different corals can go in at different times.
I got my first leather coral a month in. The tank needs to stabilize before corals can go in.
Good starter corals are mushrooms, zoas, Xenia, green star polyp, leather corals, and Kenya tree. Each comes with its own ups and downs so be sure to research each before buying.

You can always pick up a Xenia or leather frag at the lfs. If it does well it’s a good sign.

Quick thing I forgot to mention my tank still has some old T5(T something) and do you think the coral will be okay while I wait for a light upgrade? I think i might outfit it with led.
