I recently added chaeto to my sump but I am getting hair algae that grows on the glass in the sump. Do people normally scrap this off or let it grow?

Better in the sump than the DT. Throw a couple Mexican Turbo Snails in there, they'll have it cleaned up in no time.
If that's your Chaeto on the right it looks dead/dying. Remove it.

Its super green, The light is super bright and pink and makes it look white in the picture. I just had to throw about 3/4 of the chaeto today because it was growing so well.

Personal preference, one mexican turbo will be fine in there. Dont want it to starve when it cleans it up. Or leave it.

I let mine go, algae is algae; my display is spotless and no cuc(triggers love to snack). I do clean the front glass, I like checking out the mantis shrimp, when I get a glimpse of him.
