Will it come out again? Haha sorry, this is getting really nerve-wrecking. How long do you estimate it will come out again?[emoji28]

I just found out that my yellow watchman goby actually dug holes here. Is it possible that my shrimp is hiding there?

If we are taking bets mine would be on the dottyback, I had a neon that killed 3 of my cleaner shrimps before I caught him plucking out the eyes of the third one. The Orchid is the only nice one that I have ever owned

How big was your dottyback? Mine is barely an inch and did not bother my shrimp since it was introduced to my tank.

I have had one for a year. A few months ago I couldn’t find it and after a month or so, thought it was gone. Then one day, I saw him again. He was hiding in the oddest place but he’s still very much alive. Don’t give up on him.

Wow. But mine is almost half the size of the one in your description so I dont really know if that is really possible in my circumstance.

Exact thing happened to me. Shrimp never made a reappearance. Got 2. 1 week in, 1 molted and went into hiding in a crappy spot. 2 days of hiding later, it vanished never to reappear. LFS said that they can sometimes become injured during a shed, maybe a leg gets stuck or something and they end up hobbling around looking like pray. Plus they’re super soft and delicious after a molt. I dunno. I can only assume mine was eaten. Same with yours :(

Hope your little guy’s still in there. Keep us posted.

Had a coral banded shrimp murder my cleaner after 6 or so months together in the tank it was a very sad day had to purchase another cleaner it wasn’t the first tank mate it killed it cracked open an emerald crab a few months back. I donated the CBB to the LFS as much as I loved the cool little guy had him for over a year couldn’t have it continue killing and harrassing expensive tank mates he only cost a whopping $6 when I got him

Their shells are soft first day to two and they at times will eat molt for added calcium. Not unusual to be hidden for up to a week. Any occupant eating it would have left evidence of some sort
