Hey all, I just finished feeding my tank and saw this growth on my liverock. I’m newer to the reefing hobby tanks been up for close to 5 months now, I’m going through a moderate cyano outbreak too but I’m on the back end of it now. I have a couple pineapple sponges growing in the tank too and this looks nothing like them, can anyone help me with what it is?

Can you circle the areas you’re talking about or re-post with white lighting? It is hard to see from your photo.

In general, sponge growth is is pretty harmless and I have plenty of random areas in my tanks where white and clear sponges are growing. It becomes an issue if it’s physically smothering a coral but this isn’t too common and is solved with physical removal which generally isn’t too difficult. Sponge dies fast in air.
