Clown fish help!

Difficult to say as they hide a lot, lots of places to hide. One shed their skin last night so doubt they’re dead. Turbos and sexys and bumble bees all ok

If its a molt they are just growing, most likely what it is. It sounds like ammonia burn to me, l would do a 25% water change ASAP, get a better test kit, and an airstone and see if that helps your clown

Yeah if its ammonia it needs to be taken care of asap to save the fish

No problem. Same thing happened to my tang and thats how I saved him! I changed 10 gallons immediately, then 5 a few days after and it stabilized and the tang is doing great now! I also have an airstone in my tank, its a 32 biocube that I had to use as a temporary tank dude to a velvet outbreak in my main one

Also treat however many gallons you change with bottled bacteria, that will help the nitrogen cycle stabilize and break down the ammonia.

Has the fish been swimming into the flow at all or just staying up in the corner? What is the breathing rate of the clown? Watch for 15 seconds and count the number of breaths, then multiply by 4 to get bpm.
Any aggression from the other clown?

Yes swimming into the flow. This seems to be normal tho (as in done it since I had it). The other clown is smaller and this larger one is the agressor. Breathing rate was 1 per sec

40G. Tested ammonia yesterday, was 0. Same for nitrite. About 10 nitrate. pH was about 7.9 but was around midway thru the light cycle. KH around 9

Looks like a typical clown to me chasing its reflection.
All videos came thru on my end. What kits are you testing with ?

My take on this: the clown isn't breathing fast, but it is stressed and pinned up against the top of the tank. My guess is that the other clown is keeping it up there. You may not see signs of overt aggression, but this is called "displacement" where one clown just sort of moves the other one away from its territory. While you are in the room, this behavior may well change.

Well, it may not be displacement, I just wanted to ensure you were aware it could be that.

Clownfish are odd with their compatibility, things change over time, presumably as they change their sex. Watch for rips in the fins, that indicates things are breaking down further. Adding more decorations can help.

In my experience, once they start fighting it’s generally hard to reverse it. Add plenty of hiding spots and it may help to separate the aggressor for a bit.

Looks ok thanks for asking. Trying to resist temptation to keep looking. But no gasping and appears to be calmer. Think this one will be a little treacle!
